I have flown KLM to India through Schipol (Sep 07) with an expired visa on my passport old passport and no visa on the new passport. Nobody asked me any questions.

dude I am in a similar position.....got laid off on march 27th.....got my 2yr EAD on Apr 1 and now a soft LUD on my 485 on 4/10.........and my date is nowhere close.....its feb 07....not sure whts going on.....I discussed it with an attorney in worse cum worse case I will be exploring the self employment clause onyou EAD......
Anyways if they issue an RFE isn't it generally mentioned there....in my case its not stating any status change........just a soft LUD

While filling the application online for parents visa interview what would be a better answer for the following questions:
Who Will Pay For Your Trip?
What would be a better answer?
Self.
OR
Children(in U.S)
Does it even matter?
Are Any of The Following Persons in The U.S., or Do They Have U.S. Legal Permanent Residence or U.S. Citizenship? *
Mark YES or NO and indicate that person's status in the U.S. (i.e., U.S. legal permanent resident, U.S. citizen, visiting, studying, working, etc.).
Bother/Sister etc.

poorly translates to english "Does it get any colder, for one who is already drowned?"
Shocked to learn that even after CIR or SKIL passes, we will have to wait 8 yrs to get our GCs. If that wasn't shocking I wonder what else would be:confused:

In my case wife works in the same company which is sponsoring our GC and EAD apps .our EAD expired on Aug 13th (am on H1 still, wife on EAD). But Our laywer told us its ok to continue to work and employer didt ask us any thing so far. Still waiting for EAD. Expidite req was approved about 10 days ago, still waiting for the decision.
Per my lawyer, there is no written rule really that stops us working after EAD expiry,and it also depends on how employer looks at these rules and all this mess..

After showing all the documentation and the AC21 law links to USCIS site, my lawyer and immig dept agree that 03-Aug-2007 is my receipt date.
so my 180 days start from 03-Aug-2007. Quite a relief for me.
On the other side, I already lost out on 1 opportunity coz they took so much time to get back with the answer. I hope something clicks in the near future.

Yes, you can stay in US as long as your I-485 is pending. In order to work, you need EAD, which you can file at any point of time (even if the previous one gets expired). Please note that you have to wait for the I-765 approval before stating to work on EAD.

Same thing with me. My priority date May 3rd, 2006. I got EAD renewal email today.

I understand that the chance is slim.... almost microscopic :rolleyes: But I need to prepare for the worst case (or is it the best...?? :confused:) hence the question.
Any idea about how long consular processing takes and does it depend on priority dates (in the case of a further retrogression)?
Thanks for the input, will keep a close watch on the visa bulletin and keep my wife's return trip options open.

Yes, CP depends on PD as well. The best option for you is to have her fly back to US once the Visa bulletin shows your PD as current and start the prep work (documents, medical tests etc) and file her case along with AP/EAD so once she gets her AP approval, she is free to travel again.

Our demand should be reasonable.. The law makers knows what kind of people they want. One may have MBA or MA, and they may feel their degree is valuable to America. However it is up to the lawmakers to decide what they want.

I have had a bad experience working with ICICI Lombard insurance. Issues i had with ICICI
1) They do not have any rates negotiated with US hospitals. I have seen when your insurance does not have a negotiated rate, an emergency room can cost upto $5000 vs a negotiated rate of $1000 (based on real experience). But there is a cap on how much ICICI will pay for each kind of service which means my out of pocket would have been quite a bit.

Was this a recent experience ? ICICI claims to have a network through United Health Care; not sure if it is true .
As for US v/s India, none of the US insurance companies selling these travel health insurance are licensed and regulated by US authorities. Most , if not all, of these are underwritten by carriers at Lloyds of London.
I would say there is not a single travel insurance company (US or India) which provides good service.
